APPPA’s Professional Pastured Poultry Conference shakes up the typical conference workshop format by putting the instructors in the seats with everyone else. The APPPA Professional Pastured Poultry Conference uses an unconference meeting format, which results in focused and relevant group-based collaboration.
APPPA started this conference in 2017 with the express purpose of putting the community’s most experienced producers in a single room so that they could talk with and learn from each other in a spontaneous way - and in ways that are not available in other agricultural conferences.
The detailed discussions are centered on broad topics that are moderated to stay relevant to the experience level of the people in the room.
In addition to the large group discussion, 2019 will incorporate more opportunity for small group breakout sessions that allow additional networking and deep dives into specific topics.
The primary schedule is large group discussion at the Civic Center with a standing opportunity to establish smaller break out sessions as needed. Dinner on Monday and lunches for the two days will be held at the Civic Center.
The Hale family will host an optional tour of Windy Meadows Family Farm and processing facility on Monday afternoon. Windy Meadows is a multi-generational farm raising 70,000+ pasture-raised broilers; they also operate an on-farm hatchery and inspected processing facility.
Processing discussions will be deliberately segregated into groups interested in inspected processing, exempt processing, and those not-interested in processing.
