  • For those of us with oak trees in Marin, the threat of sudden oak death always looms large. Remember that this is the time of year to preventatively treat susceptible oaks ahead of the spring infection season. To learn if your trees are at risk and what to do, visit suddenoakdeath.org or contact the Master Gardeners at 415-473-4204 or mgmarin@ucdavis.edu.

  • AB 1871, a new farmers market bill, goes into effect on January 1, 2015. The new legislation aims to bring about greater enforcement activity at California certified farmers markets, by increasing the budget capacity for the CA Department of Food and Agriculture, who can contract with local county agricultural departments to ensure that farmers are selling what they grew themselves. Learn more by reading a legislative primer about the bill, put out by the California Alliance of Farmers Markets.
