AIM’s Diggin’ Education Program empowers youth to make healthy food choices by showing them where food comes from, how crops are grown and why farmers choose to farm. Three distinct programs bring food & ag knowledge to students 1) In the classroom, 2) At the market, and 3) On the farm.
Devil's Gulch Ranch
This diversified family farm located in Nicasio, CA, provides agriculture and nature educational to diverse communities, both locally and globally, including a Summer Day Camp at their ranch that focuses on connecting children with nature and farming.
Farm Day
A County-wide celebration of local agriculture for children, teachers, and families.
San Francisco Zen Center's Green Gulch Farm offers environmental programs for the public that include watershed work days and weeks as well as garden education in the fields.
Headlands Institute
A campus of NatureBridge, Headlands Institute is a non-profit educational partner of Golden Gate National Park. They inspire youth with a passion for nature and the desire to care for the environment.
The Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden, a collaborative between Conservation Corps North Bay, College of Marin, and UCCE Marin, is a 5.8 acre certified organic education farm and garden located at College of Marin's Indian Valley Campus. The Farm & Garden's programs include hands-on agriculture and food systems education for middle and high school students; training the next generation of sustainable agriculture and horticultural professionals; green jobs training for young people; community learning opportunities; and affordable organic produce.
Marin Art & Garden Center
MAAGC is a vibrant community resource that supports the arts, horticulture, history, and environmental conservation. Their Environmental Education Program promotes awareness of nature and understanding of ecological systems. Through the use of demonstration gardens as educational sites, children and adults explore the importance of habitat, conservation, and stewardship.
RDI is a non-profit educational organization with the vision that all people can live in a mutually enhancing relationship with the earth. Through their programs and courses, they teach the skills and technology people need to become community leaders and create healthy solutions to the current environmental crisis.
Slide Ranch
Located on the dramatic Marin coast, Slide Ranch connects visitors with the natural world and teaches kids about their interdependence with the environment. They offer hands-on weekday and overnight farm workshops primarily attended by school children and community groups in the spring and fall, as well as a summer camp. Organic gardens, goats, sheep, chickens and ducks, along with numerous coastal trails, tide-pools and pocket beaches, provide an ideal outdoor venue for teaching about healthy foods, healthy living, and environmental awareness.
Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed
A project of Point Blue Conservation, STRAW works with ranchers and private land owners to restore riparian and other habitat within Bay Area watersheds.
Walker Creek Ranch Marin County Outdoor School
Operated by the Marin County Office of Education, this program provides hands-on, field-based activities correlated to core State science standards curriculum. Situated on a 1700-acre former dairy ranch, they offer 4 or 5-day residential programs geared to 5th and 6th grade students. Older and younger age groups are considered, based on availability.
Windrush Farm
Along with their partnership in AIM's Diggin On The Farm Program, Windrush Farm offers Open Farm Days as well as Animal Music - a music program for toddlers and parents with sing-alongs and meetings with sheep, cows, goats and chickens of the farm. The Windrush Fiber School offers a range of classes in fiber spinning and natural dyeing.
