OAEC offers a five-day residential summer training which covers an array of techniques focused on the instructional school garden, and its integration into multiple subject areas using experiential learning. The training includes organic gardening, permaculture, nutrition, garden design, team building, fundraising, art in the garden, and more.
Students and Teachers Restoring a Watershed (STRAW) - Watershed Week
STRAW, a project of the Point Reyes Bird Observatory, offers an annual three-day teacher training institute called "Watershed Week" before the school year starts. Teachers gather to study local ecology, learn hands-on methods of scientific inquiry, share ideas about integrating environmental fieldwork with classroom curricula, and prepare for creek restoration activities during the coming year.
